Ranking King is designed to reduce privacy risk, but this policy should be reviewed by a qualified privacy professional before commercial launch.
What we collect
- A nickname you enter to join a game (not a real name — nicknames only)
- A random player ID (playerKey) stored in your browser to reconnect you if you briefly leave
- The room code of your active game
- Your rankings, votes, and scores during a game session
- Basic technical logs needed to keep the service running
Why we collect it
- To run the multiplayer game in real time
- To reconnect you automatically if you briefly background your phone
- To show results and scores
- To keep all players in a room synchronised
- To troubleshoot issues and prevent misuse
What we do not collect
- Real names — not required
- Email addresses — not required
- Phone numbers — not required
- Birthdates — not required
- Addresses or location — not required
- Payment information — the game is free
What we do not do
- We do not sell player data
- We do not use gameplay data to build advertising profiles
- We do not intentionally publish room content publicly
- We do not require a real identity to play
Data retention
Game rooms, players, votes, rankings, and scores are stored in a database while the game is active. Finished and inactive rooms are automatically deleted after 48 hours. Stale rooms with no activity are deleted after 7 days.
We aim to keep only what is needed to run the game.
Your browser storage
Ranking King saves a player ID and your active room code in your browser's localStorage so you can reconnect if you briefly leave. This data stays on your device. It is cleared when the room ends or expires.
You can clear it manually at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.
Children and families
Ranking King is designed to be family-friendly. Players should use nicknames, not real names. Children should play with parent or guardian permission where required by local law.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children and do not require real names from anyone.
